Job hunting

I'm writing this while I sit in McDonald's in Camden drinking a nice hot cappucino.... For the last thirteen months (until recently) I worked as an IT Support Technician at MayTek IT Solutions in Smeaton Grange. Unfortunately due to restructuring, I no longer work there and am now in the position of job hunting.

I have looked for jobs in the past and had mixed luck. While working at one company, I spent three years looking but nothing until I'm handed notice and was able to secure a job with a simple message to a friend.

After that I had applied for roles and managed to work at a television station based in Sydney but didn't fully utilise the opportunity of learning as much as  I could about cameras and the various technologies that were on hand.  Go pro cameras had just been released and they were being utilised by various departments for video footage. I had friends that were executive producers for to shows and was the 'go to' guy for the graphics department after a colleague had moved on to a new role.

So now I feel as though I'm at a crossroads; for the last thirteen years I've worked in IT support roles but now have a desire to work with photography.....

As a father and a husband I must provide support to my family first but does this mean that I can't follow my new passion for photography?

Another year older

On September 26 1975 at 3:50am I was born. I've been reliably told that when I was coming, my Dad decided to speed to the hospital (not the first father or last to do this!). The Police tried to stop him but he was determined to get Mum to the hospital so they assisted by clearing the road for him.

The story goes that Dad dropped Mum at the entrance, parked the car and ran in to find that I was born already! Pretty quick huh?

I've told you this so I can now say that the night of my birth was a few days over 40years ago! Seems like yesterday...well not quite but you know what I mean...

This past Saturday I celebrated my 40th birthday with my beautiful wife and our two sons. I reflected in the days leading up to it about my childhood and my parents 40th's. Truth be told, I do not recall them but I do have vivid memories of a trip to America when my Dad was approx 38. It scares me to think that I'm now older than he was then.....

He is now 69 and we still talk about the trip and recall some of the good times from that trip...

Happy birthday to me!..
